Camera Roll: What We Left Behind

Oberbaum Bridge, connecting two boroughs once divided by the Berlin Wall

step outside your front door

stomping through the asphalt

you are a living livewire

the current that runs through these concrete canyons

even though currently the crushing weight

caves in like an open mouth to consume you

shed your shoes you'll be faster

bleed faster

yesterday hanging over our heads

like a reminder

of what we left behind

and what can still catch up to us.

From Wikipedia: The Oberbaum Bridge (German: Oberbaumbrücke) is a double-deck bridge crossing Berlin's River Spree, considered one of the city's landmarks. It links Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, former boroughs that were divided by the Berlin Wall, and has become an important symbol of Berlin’s unity.
